Information We Collect
Buggin collects information needed to provide the app's map, forecast, logging, and account features. This may include account identifiers such as your sign-in email or provider account information, location data you choose to use for maps, weather, and water reports, saved pins and fishing-log entries you create, AI prompt text you submit, and photos you choose to attach to fishing logs. We also collect limited technical and diagnostic information needed to keep the service working. We do not sell personal data to third parties.
How Information Is Used
We use collected information to authenticate your account, generate fishing forecasts and environmental reports, save and sync your pins and fishing logs, store and display log photos you choose to upload, support optional sharing features you intentionally use, improve app performance and reliability, and maintain service security.
Photos and Log Media
If you choose to attach a photo to a fishing log, Buggin accesses the image you selected from your device's photo library and uploads it to our cloud storage so it can be saved with your account and displayed in your logs across supported devices. Log photos are private to your account by default unless you later use a sharing feature that makes selected content available to others. You can remove attached photos by editing or deleting the related log, and photos associated with deleted content may remain temporarily in backups or internal recovery systems for a limited period.
Sharing and Public Links
If you choose to share forecast or log content, Buggin may generate a shareable link and a public preview page containing the specific snapshot data you chose to share. Shared content is not created automatically. You control whether a share is created, and any public preview is limited to the information included in that shared snapshot.
Third-Party Services
Buggin uses third-party services to provide core functionality. These may include Firebase services for authentication, cloud storage, cloud functions, database storage, and app infrastructure; USGS for river and streamflow data; Open-Meteo for weather data; Apple and Google sign-in providers when you choose those login methods; mapping providers used by the app; and AI service providers used to generate forecast or assistance features. These services may process limited data as needed to provide their portion of the service.
Data Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational steps to protect information processed through the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain account data, saved pins, fishing logs, attached log photos, and related app content for as long as needed to provide the service or until you delete that content or your account, subject to limited retention for backups, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution. If you delete your account through Buggin's account-deletion flow, we will process deletion of your account data as described in the app.
Children's Privacy
Buggin is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be reflected on this page.
